First, you have to know what kind of memory you computer uses.
And you have to find out what is the maximum size of memory your computer can support.

Next, you have to find out if there is any available DRAM slot on your motherboard.

If you have open slot:

Power down the computer and remove the power cable from the computer. make sure you touch the computer case with your bare skin.

If you have open slot, then put in the new purchased RAM module onto the slot in the orientation. Make sure you lock in the DRAM module onto the slot.

Put back the case cover and power up the computer.

Check the BIOS and see if the computer recongise the module.

To add more RAM to your computer, you would have to buy it. Also if you do, check the speed of your current RAM or consult the manual of your computer for the speed. If you ask an assistant at the store, they are sure to ask you what speed your computer can use. Also keep in mind that you can only add ram if your computer still has enough DIMMs(slots for RAM)

depends on your computer type, but open up the back of it and exchanging the current modul / modules with some bigger once will do the job. Just make sure your pc supports your new ram.
ie. see the manual, or check vendors homesite.
