do you think it is only a question of time before PFI will force council tax bills to go through the roof. Do you think PFi has been thought through properly. Is PFI the worst government fiscal idea ever

I agree with you, as all this is, is selling the nation's silver to special interest groups and then leasing it back at interest. It is good for tony's cronies but very bad for the taxpayer who gets no benefit as they have to pay twice plus interest for what their taxes paid once for before. The taxes are still spent on these things and the private owners charge privately for them too.

this is unlike the BT or Gas privatisations, which where sold off to the public and then run as businesses and no longer paid for by tax. The BT privatisation is a success, the current Government's privatisations have been a financial and social disaster.

you seem to have missed the whole point of pfi, which is to allow government ministers, to give information, and favor to companies, in return for a directorship etc tec when they retire....

that, and the government dont like being responsible for pensions..
