Not really....I think people as a whole still care, I think that between media and politics, they have just completely negated everyone's feelings. Think about it....how often do you turn on the news and hear about the 16 yr old kid who jumped into the canal to save the 4 yr old little girl who fell in while she was playing? Hardly ever, because that wouldn't cause as big of a long term stir as the drive by shootings, etc. Don't get me wrong, I think that if it is going to directly affect my life or that of my neighbors and family, sure , I want to know about a serial rapist in my community. But come on, don't you think that putting the attention on the county fair would lighten EVERYONE'S mood a little bit and maybe help reduce crime levels-even if it is just for the day?

The youth of America have stopped caring, they have become truly apathetic. They are now being taught that they are better than anyone else. What happened to equality? I think that sometimes we all have a bad day, but what about these bratty kids whose parents gave up on them? Its okay to give your kids what you never had...but you also have to teach them that the world outside of them matters as well. When you die, you're not going to be able to take all this stuff with you. So, my answer is people do care, but mainly about themselves. The ones who do care are either over looked or are doing something to show that they care.

That's the general opinion I think, a woman passed out on the tube this morning, and although a few people came to her aid, most looked like they couldn't care less - a sad fact of a selfish society that is also too scared to do anything in case of reprisals

I don't think there's any more apathy in the world (per person) than at any other time in history.

But I do think people are deluged with issues about which we're all expected to care. It's hard to care about everything and remain functional.

I don't think it is a matter of people not caring. I think it is more like people have become desensitized. Things that used to shock and outrage us, now is more acceptable because it happens so frequently.

Sad, isn't it?

Given how many people appear to be quite upset about this issue or that in this forum, it would appear that they care a lot about what they care about.

a lot of people care too much about only their point of view, and have closed themselves off to other ways of thinking.
