that makes you a bigot. I think we need to ask these questions. I think that's were all the ignorance comes from...the lack of knowledge. That's the problem with race in America. Too many people have shoved their question into the back of the closet and never get the information they need so they make stereotypes and assumption. Asking racial questions don't make you a bigot, even answering them in a niave way doesn't make you a bigot. Not asking them at all and learning something form them makes me think about you. No. you may not always like the answer, but sometimes you really can learn something form the good and negative answers.

I agree with you. I've seen countless people (including myself) get verbally attacked and called names for asking simple questions that are about different ethnic groups. These questions are in no way racially offensive, yet there are SO many people who answer with "You're a racist, so f*ck you!" It's really ridiculous.

It makes me wonder if these people who are so quick to jump on other people for being "racist" aren't a tad racist themselves, and are suffering a guilty conscience.

I agree with what you are saying but at the same time people in this world are ignorant and hatefull, not every one, but just the ones who feel threatend by others. It doesn't help either the way some racial orientated questions are asked. Some of them are looking for people to be rude. Good question, very well stated, thank you and I hope their are more out there like you!

It works both ways - the questioner needs to be an environment where it is okay to ask the question
-but-
the question must also be somewhat informed.

For example:
"Why are all _______ people full of attitude?
is not a great idea especially with a diverse audience.

I am gay and people ask me questions all the time. I choose what I want to answer and ignore abusive or ignorant questions.

We can all learn a lot by asking the RIGHT questions.

you just answered your question! lol- i think about that all the time! there are sooo many closed minded people and if everyone could just open their eyes and soul to knowledge and let go of their ignorance, this world would be a much greater place. i think its getting a little better with each generation...very slowly though. its still not enough. the labeling and stereotyping has got to stop and we need to be educating our children on this!

because some people (okay, a lot of people) feel even the whole idea of discussing the issue is racist. and you have a wonderful point. because if you ask a simple questions, someone is all riled and gets defensive and wants to start a fight. btw....most people are pretty ignorant when it comes to their own race which is absolutely hysterical!

i think that everyone could always learn more about anyones race even there own . and it is just like when people say the niger word they dont realize that there is one of them in every race and everyone needs to understand that.

this is just such a touchy subject, and people get defensive about their stance on it. They may have been dogged for their beliefs so often that they are to the point that they just generalize.
