First off, don't think that because your band is good that the road to fame and fortune is going to be easy...This mindset has proven to be very dangerous to a lot of talented artists...
Secondly, make sure your band is getting a lot of exposure...Play any chance that you get...and enter any battles you can find...You don't necessarily have to win all of the time (it won't hurt though) as long as you show up and entertain the hell out of the crowd...After a while, your band should start being invited to play places...and by a while, i mean probably after a year or two of playing anywhere you can...
Thirdly, when it comes to recording, find a studio with fair rates and record there...When picking that out, make sure to listen to some other things that have been recorded there...Don't ever make that kind of decision solely on price...If the quality isn't up to par, it's a waste of money no matter how cheap it is...
Once you've recorded a sufficient amout of material, you can release it as an album..by then, your name should be fairly recognizable with music fans in your community and you shouldn't have a lot of trouble getting independent record stores to carry it...
If you repeat this process enough times, you should garner a little bit of fame, and if you're really good (and very lucky) you might even blow up...
Pretty much, if I have to sum it up, be persistent!!
Good luck.
ps. this is by far no guaranteed way of breaking into the business...just a guideline that might work out if applied right....

My cousin is a famous singer (even appeared on TIME magazine cover) and now is making a movie that may be nominated for the Ocars. His way to becoming a rock star was to first put himself out there. Sing locally and sell CDs at the local concerts--at churches, community events, parties, etc. Then what you need to do is to get someone in the media to notice--he went on this show (sorta like American Idol, but not) and they got him an agent after that. Now he is making millions. Of course not everyone can do it, but this is what he did. Hope this helps! :)

Myspace is probably the best advertisment bands have these days. It is totally free and you can put mp3's and videos on your page. Also there are several contests held around the country that many major and independant labels attend scouting up and coming talents. One major one that I know of is the Gospel music association it is held in nashville and in colorado /www.gospelmusic.org. Good luck!

It's all about exposure. Play any gig you can, and get your name known. If you have a CD, sell copies at your shows. Make friends with local club's booking people - many national acts play club shows and if you make friends with them, you'll often get a gig opening for a national act. If you can, get yourself to a convention like NAMM or something like that. (I don't know if Concrete is still every fall.) If your local radio station has a show that features unsigned acts - get yourself on it.
I have friends that got noticed by Sony records by setting up and playing outside CBGBs when there was a showcase going on.
You WILL NOT get signed by sending your cd to all the record labels, artists, or radio stations unless they ask for it. They all have policies about not accepting unsolicited material, and they throw it in the garbage. (Reason being - if you give it to them, and someone else releases a song that sounds like yours, they leave themselves wide open to lawsuits.)

I've been to shows where these young and little known bands bring in demo cds or just songs they recorded at home on PC and distributed them to the audience free of charge just to make a name for themselves.
You should be original, do your own thing, get money, play what people want to hear and not what you want, and get some grammatical and English language skills.

Just keep doing what you're doing, plus A LOT of self-promotion. Make a website, pay a few hundred dollars to make a demo and put it on CDBaby.com. That will make you famous.

Do a lot of drugs and have lots of sex. It doesn't hurt if you have a decent voice and know how to play a musical instrument.
