I am 7 months pregnant and my baby already looks like he's dropped. i was carrying pretty high not too long ago and now 3 people of said that it looks as though i've dropped. is it too early or could my doctor be wrong about my due date? when i went for my first check up he said my uterus felt like i was farther along than i thought so he scheduled me an ultrasound and changed his mind saying the baby was due when i had said. so could he be wrong? or could my baby just be a fast grower? He has even been kicking really low since i've noticed my belly looking like it was riding lower. alot of people have also told me that i look farther along than i am because my belly is so big. i am already having signs that normally don't show according to the books until 8 months but i just turned 7 months according to my doctor. i'm wondering if i should get a second opinion. what are your thoughts on this?

"Droping" has nothing to do with your due date or when you'll deliver, despite old wives tales. And no one follows the books exactly with their symptoms, those are just guide lines not "for sures." I agree with everyone else, next time you go into the doc ask him/her all these questions. THey will have much better answers for you then us here!

I think you should definitely get a second opinion. An ultrasound would have been able to tell you exactly how far along you are without the doctor guessing at it, but if you are only 7 months then it is too early for your baby to be dropping already, but every women is different as well as every pregnancy.

You should definitely call your doctor and express you concerns to him/her.My guess would be that it's probably nothing to worry about but you wouldn't want to ignore it just in case. Lots of people told me the same things during my last pregnancy but she stayed in there right up until the last minute. I also had the same feelings that the baby was kicking lower. It could be that the baby has just switched positions but it's had to say without a professional opinion. Good luck and congratulations!

There is no specific time for a baby to drop. It normally will drop at two to four weeks before delivery. But notice what I said normally, not always.

I dropped at 34 weeks and also lost my plug with bloody show (not my water) I did not go into labor until 39 weeks. You know what normal is for the plug and bloody show? Quoted from 'What To Expect When Your Expecting'
" Loss of Mucous Plug. As the cervix begins to to thin and open, the "cork of mucus that seals the opening of the uterus becomes dislodged. THis gelantinous chunk of mucus can be passed through the vagina a week or two before the first real contractions or just as labor begins.

Pink or Bloody Show. As the cervix effaces and dilates, capillaries frequently rupture, tinting the mucus pink or streaking it with blood. This "show" usually means labor will start within 24 hours- but it could be as much as several days away."

I had these both happen at 34 weeks, I did not go into labr until 39 weeks, I had no "real contractions". My water broke one day and had to be indruced. Besides my breaking of water I did not go into labor by myself. Five weeks after having these.

Things happen at different times for different woman, don't worry to much about it. Talk to your OB let them know you think you have dropped and handle it from there.

I was scared when I read that by the book I was going into labor 24 hours to several days and when I talked to my doctor he asked are you having contractions now? I said no. He said nothing probably will came of it, take the day off sit with your feet up and relax. If you start feeling any contractions call.

I never had contractions till they induced me.

It is normal for a first baby to drop earlier in the pregnancy. Even my first dropped low in my pelvis at earlier than seven months! This is nothing to be concerned about. With consecutive pregnancies, many babies do not drop until labor begins. Trust me. You are okay! Good luck!

I dropped with all three of mine at 5 months. Two were early and one was on time. It's hard to say. Ask your doc, that is the best words of advice you can get.
