Smoke a little pot. It will calm you down, slow time, and help you focus. Pot, for a brighter tomorrow.

Between now and the race, practice, practice, practice but always at the fastest speed you feel comfortable and slowly trying to build up faster laps as you go. Then the day before race day if you are still honestly so scared that you will be seriously injured then don't do it, keep practicing and think about the next race. No one is good at anything their first time out. No reasonable person should expect you to win in your first race ever either.
When you are not riding try to imagine yourself racing and doing well down to the tiniest detail and it will seem far more possible and less scary. A failure to plan is a plan to fail.

If it's a sanctioned MX race, each class gets a few practice laps before the actual race. Just ride the practice laps. Keep telling yourself "There's no pressure about how I perform. I'm just gonna have some fun riding at my speed. I'll follow the faster riders through the turns to see how they do it". My very first MX race, I came in last, with the faster riders lapping me. I had fun because I didn't have any expectations. If you're still scared, then don't race. Practice some more until you feel confident enough to enter a race.

I have been riding since i was 2 years old so i wouldn't know what it is to be scared. although if it has something to do with a previes injury just suck it up and get back on the bike you wimp. If it something to do with the power and you don't won't to flip it off the starting line place your body towards the front of the bike and let out the clutch slowly but smoothly. If it has something to do with control leaning the bike helps a lot.

i'd recommend looking a close-by song that holds open prepare. using interior the sector is fantastic for getting used to a clean bike, yet once you go with to race you may desire to coach on a song as much as obtainable. There are some good DVD's accessible to assist with technique. Gary Bailey has some large ones, do in basic terms a seek.

Dont ride the bike then. If I've ever learned anything in life, its always been to go with your first instinct. If you're worried what people will say about it, just make up some kind of excuse.

Obviously, if you are scared about riding in the race, don't ride. You should feel excited, thrilled, eager and confident, so feeling scared is telling you something important. Don't ride... and consider taking up curling.

if you feel sure of the abilities you got, if you trust in your bike, why you got to be scared, dude? everything in the life got risks, so come on, ride the life, because the life with no risks got a bitter taste.

Why are you racing a dirt bike if you're afraid?

Just do your best and try not to be scared cause then you will not be able to concentrate on the track and obstacle's and then you will crash. Just say a little prayer before going out on to the track.
