Well, we haven't lost Pluto -- its still there. It was just legislated out of one classification and into another. I'll still think of it as a planet and I still think its discovery was a real triumph not just of science but of perseverence.

You can take Pluto out of the planets, but you can't take the planet out of Pluto!

I think its unfair to change the requirements this late in the game.

Although I know they have been considering disqualifying Pluto as a planet for decades, but still. For such a small lonely body, how sad to have to be demoted.

Does that mean that there is not a new classification of bodies that are not planets, yet not space debris?

The planet redefinition proposal failed at the IAU by a wide margin. Pluto is still a planet.

I will miss Pluto, although it's crazy little orbit always ruined the lovely circles that represented the planets' orbits. I suppose it is for the best...

I saw on NBC and the local NBC station that Pluto will still be considered a planet. Two or three more "planets" will be added to the list as well.

Pluto = Planet ........ will always be in my mind - what'll happen to that song/poem thingy that helps kids remember the order of the planets? Will they have to rewrite it?
