medium oak cabinets to a dark green?

Bleach the wood with a commercial wood bleaching solution. Sand it lightly. Then apply the stain. Stains are more subtle and delicate looking than paint. Ask for a suitable bleach at a large paint supply house.

I do not think I would stain to achieve a dark green. Your best option would be to sand the cabinets, then us an oil based paint. This would give you a much more richer look than a stain.

why would you stain oak green??? just get a clear stain sand it an stain it the way it is.
if you want green buy pine and sand it and paint it . oak cost to much to ruen with green..............
