If the world were taken over by mid 14th century Islam.?

Would we have to accept a medevil life including lack of sanitation, Islamic law, brutalization of women, the plague etc. or will be all be treated to the wonders of the mideast like the hanging gardens and camel rides.

We'd all be squatting in mud huts and picking at ourselves....and there'd be a lot of graves with headless bodies in them.
