Gran Turisimo Omologato, which means Grand Touring Homologated, a european racing series.

Ferarri also had a GTO, and weren't happy when Pontiac used it!

Also, people called it Gas, Tires & Oil, because that's what they burned. I don't know why, my GTO only burns the first two!

Goat comes from a rearrangement of the letters.
