add your site to google and yahoo search engions, and then start to advertise
advertise around the content you have on your site
If your site has to do with red balls, go onto forums that deal with red balls
put a link to your site in your sig when you talk on forums
and update often so people will come back
exchange links with other sites
ect.

Make it unique, different ways to access the site in which people who have different types of connections can click on as to not to wait, always updated, eye catching colors, etc.
