You should get your period about 14 days after you ovulate. Once you ovulate the egg only lives 12-24 hours. Also, not every woman's cycle is 28 days. Cycles vary between 22-40 days, depending on the person, so if you know how to track your ovulation you will know when your period will start.

No. If that happened no one could ever get pregnant. The period clears out last month's egg and build up. The new egg comes into place in a couple of weeks and stays a couple of weeks waiting for fertilization. If not you are on your way to the next period.
