Working on story idea FOR NOVEL OR TRILOGY, NOT TV SHOW OR MOVIE, something on a "during the disaster" crisis.
Figuring on minimal time out of shelter (maybe 2 hrs/day max) after first month, so cabin fever's going to be an issue over time. All in good health overall; fully stocked food/first aid supplies. There's good ventilation and self-powered lighting/heating/cooking system. They CANNOT spend all their time having sex, btw; let's be reasonable!---and I'm not expecting them to be battling off zombies and pillagers.
Ideas about what would be a good mix of adults _just to get through the year of confinement together_ and what challenges they're going to face, living so closely? ("Let's KILL the karaoke singer.....slowly.....") Or things that should/shouldn't be in the shelter, and why?
Since Survivor theme is so hot, thought I'd raid your brains for GENERAL ideas for conflicts---watched only couple episodes of show (hate TV , so pls keep that in mind. Thanks!

These people are NOT being voted out, FYI, and there is NO money involved. They simply are living together IN CLOSE CONFINEMENT (it's a disaster shelter) for a year. They don't need to have a lot of "outside survival skills" for the shelter. And no, I'm not planning to have them murdering each other off in frustration, so that plot complication is kinda out....
I'm trying to figure out a decent character mix, allowing for some nice potential conflicts, while still making it "reasonable" for this bunch of people to be thrown in together under these circumstances.

the bbc had a series like this already, bunch of different people, all walks of life and different professions and faiths and ages. Some families, some couples and some singles. Put them on an island with bare necessities and they had to live there for a year--no money and no vote offs. I can't remember the name right now, but will edit this if I do. If not, I am sure that someone else will come up with the name for you.

Great story idea, can we add that they have to spend their time torturing Jeff Probst by making him do physical challenges in 104 temps after days of crapping in a hole with no food except rice and a few moths, and no water except whatever he manages to gather in his sneaker when it rains all night........
I love survivor, but I am so done with Jeff Probst.
