Take a year or two off, figure out what you want to do for the rest of your life, then go back. Going to school now without a clear outlook on life will only end up wasting time and money as you decide 2-3 years into your major that you really wanted to be something completely different.

It is better to go to college when you have money, you can still travel and have fun, in the first year. Do whatever resits you need to then knuckle down for the next two or three years.

If you were thinking of just sitting at home and watching tv, or going out on the tear every night, this gets depressing really quick, but its a difficult habit to break.

My son is 22 and has taken "time off". He has a "good enough " job to support has car and fun and lives with several roommates to share the rent. Now he has met a girl and things are turning toward the serious side. Suddenly the there is not enough money in this "good enough" job to move out of the fun house and start making a future. Suddenly time has run out and he is between childhood and adulthood with no where to go. It pains me to see him this way but he has made his own bad choices and now he has to live with the consequences.

I tried the whole "take time off" thing. Trust me, it's not worth it. After working for a year at a minimum wage job, living in a crappy apartment, paying bills, and having no health insurance...I SPRINTED to college. It was a great time and totally worth it.

Go to college. Believe me, it's a CAKE WALK compared to the real world.

Get your degree, and have fun while you are doing it.

I guarantee you that if you don't go to college now, and start "enjoying life" you'll NEVER GO to college. It WILL be too late, because supporting yourself in the real world takes MUCH MORE TIME if you don't have a degree, so you WON'T have time to go back to college later.

Young Lady, life will catch up with you one day.

Escape now and it may be harder for you in the future.

Work hard now, save, get a pension plan, buy a house and maybe when you're about 35/40 you can chill.

35 or 40 is not old, and certainly not too old.

Whatever you decide, good luck.

I wish you well.

Sounds like a cool idea but how long are you going to "enjoy life" sooner or later we all grow up and do our own thing(our occupation). Plus how do you maintain an income.

Hellfire.

You gotta think about it.
Go buy your ticket now and have a blast

If you dont, you will surely regret it for the rest of your days.

you are only young once... make the most of it.

(can I come?)

If you enjoy it, then go for it! Enjoy what you do for now. But of course, you still need to go to college unless you're Paris Hilton. =)
