AMERICAN LEAGUE: New York Yankees.

With a healthy 6.5 game lead in the standings after a five-game sweep of Boston, New York seems a shoe-in for the playoffs. With a decent rotation, strong bullpen (when rested), and an unbelievably patient line-up of power hitters, the Yankees are probably the least flawed of all American League teams.

The Tigers, although they have brilliant, young starting pitching and more than decent offense, lack postseason experience. Up until recently, they struggled mightily against teams like the Yankees, White Sox, and Red Sox.

Chicago's starting pitching has been nothing like the World Champions of 2005, especially Buehrle. In fact, each starter in the current rotation has pitched to an increased ERA compared to last season.

The Twins have had the luxury of throwing out the best 1-2 punch in baseball (Santana and Liriano), but the loss of Francisco cripples the confidence of the over-achieving Minnesota franchise. I'm not knocking the great potential this team has, but I don't sense them doing well if they make the playoffs.

No team in the West really stands out as a postseason contender.

NATIONAL LEAGUE: New York Mets.

With exception to the streaking Dodgers, no other team comes close.

Look for a Subway Series in 2006, Yankees over Mets in 6 games.

This was asked a couple months back and I said Yankees-Dodgers Yankes win in 7 but it is looking like it could be another Subaway Series if Mets keep it up.
They are 1 game ahead of Yankees right now and both at top of their Division so who knows?

Mets and Yankees. Yankees are getting Hideki Matsui and Gary Shefield back and are doing just fine in the AL East. The Mets are 13 1/2 games up and they have Pedro and Glavine coming back with more than a month to recover from their injuries.

Yankees, with Mussina Johnson and Wang anchoring the staff they have the well needed three man rotation in theplayoffs. Also, i think the injury to Mussina could help him because he has been struggling of late and with rest he could come back and pitch like he did at the beginning of the year. Also, Matsui is looking to come back mid september and to have a player like Melky Cabrera comming of the bench gives the Yankees so much depth. Their line up is already loaded, the only thing they may have a problem with is a tired bullpen cauise they overwork proctor and villone but both of them have been starters in their career(Proctor in the minors).

for me i think the final scores for the games in the Tigers-Mets world series is: Game 1 final score tigers 4 mets 3, game 2, mets 7 tigers 2 game 3, mets 1 tigers 0, game 4, tigers 10 mets 5, game five mets 2 tigers 1, game six, tigers 5 mets 4, and in game seven i think magglio will hit the walk off home run in the 12th inning to lead the tigers to a 15-14 tigers win

Twins against the Reds write it down. No East coast bias here.
