I found an image of a picture that I need for a project (found the image online). The problem is that it has some writing on it which i need to remove (without removing the color from behind) And write something new on it. Is there anyway that I can do this and if so how? Thanks!

*Here is the pic...if you look at it there is something written in the middle and I need to remove it.

She's using it for a school project... how is that theft? So what you're saying is that if i was in school and i was doing a research report on a famous artist and i went into the library and photocopied a picture of one of his works to show in my presentation, that would be theft too? To show something to a bunch of STUDENTS, its not like shes using this to sell products and make money off of it.

Short answer - not very easily. You'll have to import the picture into a programme like Paint and then copy a piece of picture where there is no text onto the spot where there is text. You may have to erase the unwanted word pixels first. In your favour is the picture being a cartoon, rather than a photograph (you don't have to worry about matching fine gradations of tints and hues and shades).

You are attempting theft. As such, I cannot help you. You should give credit to the creator and leave the writing on the image. It's why they put it there in the first place. Otherwise, contact the source and ask for permission. They will be able to provide you with a clear image.

There's a good reason why that type is over the image -- some artist invested his time and effort into creating it, and deserves to be compensated for his work! Please don't steal money out of that hard-working person's pocket -- there are plenty of royalty-free clip art sources out there....try using one of those instead!

If you are removing marks that indicate the ownership of the image, you (and anyone who helps you) are violating federal copyright law and could be subject to statutory penalties. You may not lawfully take the work of another to use as your own, as you apparently intend.

You may have to use paint on its highest magnification and copy the colors of adjacent pixels. It's time consuming, but it can be done. I'm presuming, of course, that you don't have a backup. (Have you ever emailed the picture to anyone?)

If you have Photoshop and patience, you can use the clone tool to replicate exactly the colours/patterns behind and around the text. The result has been sent to you via Answers IM.
