They say vacuum first because some vacuums stir up a lot of dust. If your vacuum does this, it's kinda counterproductive, as well as allergy inducing. You can get better bags, the micro-filtration type, and then dust first or last, whatever you feel like at the time.

That's an EZ one for me.....And for most people its a NEVER ENDING circle... If you dust first , the dust goes on the floor and then you vacuum it up and the dust goes back on the furniture and vice a versa........ First and foremost, you MUST have and use a BAGGLESS vacuum cleaner, because if you use a regular vac that has a bag, you will always have dust that escapes from it and the exhaust (it's most noticeable when the sun shines in through a window). Bags are made of a porse material so that air can flow through it, so if air can get through it, SO CAN TINY DUST PARTICALS !!! That's why that coffee table that you JUST dusted is dusty Again...
The reason I know this is because I was a sales distributor for a company called Health Mor Inc. The makers of "Filter Queen" the Multi-purpose Air Filtration System. My position was to inform consumers of the health risks that dust, dust mites, germs, bactria, mold, mildew and allergens could cause. I helped many people with allergies understand the importance of proper cleaning for their health situations.
I would like to recommend that you look into purchasing a Filter Queen System or similar type equipment. For other types, more information or where to find these products, please feel free to E-mail me @ heavensentdeigo@yahoo.com.
I hope that I helped you as well with your question.
Happy CLEANING and God Bless !!!

Dust first and then vacuum. When you dust you are moving the dirt off of taller objects onto the floor and lower objects. It would make the most sense to dust first and then vacuum. People that clean for professional cleaning companies use this same method. Happy housekeeping!!!!

Professional cleaners begin at the top of the room and work down.
That way, whatever dust settles during the cleaning process is on the rug and ready to be vacuumed last.

Really doesn't matter. You are stirring up dust all the time by walking, using the furniture, forced air heating and cooling, etc. It can take along time for dust to settle.
