-mix apple cider vinegar and honey together. sprinkling it with cinnamon powder is better. (1/4 glass) drink it and do not follow with water.
-drink lots of fresh fruit juices.
-gargle with bactidol.

Well, unfortunately colds are caused by viruses and are much harder to cure. To help with symptoms, you can try over-the-counter cold medicines. I like Advil Cold and Sinus because it has ibuprofen (the medicine that's in regular Advil and Motrin) in it for headaches and sinus pain. If you've got plans, you might want to look for something that doesn't have the medicine diphenhydramine in it. That particular medicine is pretty notable for making people sleepy. The medicine pseudoephedrine works too, and it doesn't seem as sedating for me. I also like the zinc lozenges called Cold Eeze. They're not a cure, but they do seem to help if you take them as early as possible in the course of the cold. You should also make sure you get plenty of rest and fluids. Feel better soon!

There is a certain tea that I purchase that is honey lemon and it works wonders. Also, they have honey and chamomile cough drops. They are both from Celestial Seasonings I believe. Anything warm is going to make your throat feel better guaranteed. If you have plans for tonight try a non-drowsy cold remedy (Day Quil, Theraflu?) That's all I got. =) Good luck.

Personally, I like to drink grapefruit juice for a cold and especially a sore throat. Get the refrigerated stuff (e.g., Tropicana), not the canned. Drink lots of it throughout the day. The acidity seems to cut through the drainage, and the fluid and vitamin C is just helpful in general.
My wife swears by HOT orange juice. Personally, I don't care for that.
I almost never use OTC remedies (Dayquil, etc.). I think they interfere more than they help.

I'd try antihistimine's right now because it is "hayfever" season. If it really is a cold then Zinc lozengezes will reduce the length of the cold. So far there is no cure for the common cold. Good luck.

Try gargeling with warm salt water that will help your throat. If it's just allergies then that will help a lot. If it truly is a cold I would start using that Zicam it won't help you tonight but it will make the cold shorter.

short answer, you won't be better by tonight
long answer, antihistamines, cough drops, warm saline gargle, light teas, cold and flu medicines, CAN help, but you won't get rid of an infection that quick.
And vitamin C won't really do too much either, it's more prophylactic than curative (and even then, kinda eh...)
