Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Kenya, Nigeria, India, and many other places are former English colonies. USA broke away with a revolution, the others gradually left under peacefull terms.

Canada is now a real country, not a colony. We have some historical links: the Queen is on some of our money, our national cops are called Royal Canadian Mounted Police, she visits once in a while, etc etc. But we have our own laws, constitution, and so forth.

The British Isles are England, Ireland, and Scotland, and Wales.

PS Staceyrennie, Canada still is part of the Commonweath. That is why it takes part in the Commonweath Games every 4 years.

Canada used to be a part of the British Common Wealth but in 1983 we signed a peacefull seperation from them. We still have very close ties to the UK but unlike in the past when England declares war on another country we don't have to follow suit we can decide on our own.

Um, canada is an independent nation. Not part of anything but Canada. It was originally settled by English and French, but it is its own country.
