My wife and I didn't "do it" on our wedding night, I've had people tell me it wasn't that great, is this true?

We didn't do the garter toss since my wife thought it was old fashioned and she's very independent. No big deal to me.

We did the garter toss at our wedding reception, and a 6 year old boy caught it!! It was very funny! Of course the 35 year old guy hanging onto the boy really got the garter...But anyway, my husband and I never had sex on our wedding night either. We were too drunk and tired. We saved it for the next morning! lol Everyone is different. I've been to a lot of weddings and each one has been different-but that's what's fun about them!!!!

My husband and I didn't our wedding night either. By the time the wedding and reception were over we were both to tired (and to drunk). We waited until the next night and checked into Fantasy Suites hotel (and never left the room!) Instead of tossing the garter we auctioned it off! It was something a little different and we had a great time doing it.

Well I didn't get to do the garter toss either as we didn't get to get married in a church. Didn't matter any way as the marriage only lasted 17 years and ended in a divorce after I caught him cheating on me. That was over 10 years ago on the divorce.

It's just a tradition, and not even one steeped in emotion and commitment. If people were pure and chaste, this would be the first time the groom was that far up her dress, and he's doing it in public. It's like a cute little dirty joke, but in modern times, it's not that dirty or cute. I don't think it's bad that you skipped it at all, but I bet some old people at your reception missed it -- but who cares? That day belonged to you & your wife, not anyone else, and hence should have been planned to accommodate your & your wife's wishes, not anyone else's wishes. :-)

Certain people have different out looks on life. The perception that one must go to school, army study and then marry is out of date. However certain rituals no matter how primal is what dictates the out come of our life in the future. I believe that resentment can build up over an issue of this kind. Remember what is trivial to one person may be the core issue of another. Judging by how you worded your question I would say you harbour a certain degree of frustration or anger. Non the less what has happend has happend. Move forward and try relive that special day in another way. An anniversary celibration can re-light or build the neccesary fire one may crave. I hear that a lot too. noone had agreat timei guess cause of expectations thatits supposed to be THE night you are as one. Everyone i taked to just passed out like me when i got the hotel. We were sooo tired and drunk. (everyone was giving us shot after shot) but on our honeymoon, i didnt expect nothing big, but MAN I HAD THE BEST ORGASM OF MY WHOLE LIFE. I dont know y, it just happened tobe on our honey moon. So weird...
