When I am depressed I sleep all the time. It seems to be my defense mechanism so I don't think about all the bad things. That is what I do! What I should do is exercise or shop or get with family and friends. I also see a doctor regularly and take the meds as prescribed. It also helps to have people around me that understand what depression is and not be afraid of it. Knowledge is power.

When I'm depressed, I stop thinking about myself and do something nice for someone else. I also find a physical project to work on like painting a piece of furniture or scrubbing the floor to get me moving and focus my attention in a different direction.

Helping other people, and working up a sweat both make me feel better.

What is the reason for you to be depressed ? If you chose to not to confront the cause.

Is it just momentary or something that may last for a while

If it is just a momentary,

-Then take a breather by step away from it.
- Discuss it with your friend. Talk it out.
- listen to some soft music
- eat/drink some sweets and some of your favorate snacks
- Take your minds off it by going to comedy movies or something.

Get out of the house, talk to someone, do something physical like clean up the house or help your little brother w homework. You'll see concentrating your attention on something, or someONE else will take your mind off things.

AVOID darkness and solitude, it only worsens your depression.

The weird thing is that when you feel down all you want to do is lie down and see no one and do nothing at all, but you need to fight that impulse and get up go outside and do something!

When I'm depressed I listen to music that helps my mood. Like something I really enjoy...also I think things out and find a solution and try not to stay depressed.

Force myself to leave the house, go for a walk, swim, sit outside and enjoy the day. Or call friends and family and have lunch. If you are truly depressed, not just having the blues and these things don't work talk to your doctor. Cheer up life is never as bad as you think it is! : )

This is my Mom's advice .-
1. To take a bath or a shower.(I take advantage of this and sing to my heart' s content.And by the time the bath is over a large part of my depression is gone.)
2.To wear a favourite,clean dress.
3.To take a warm cup of tea or coffee.
4. To take a long walk with my pet dog.

I play online video games to take my mind off what's bothering me or I call one of my friends or my mom and tell them about how I'm feeling... just telling someone seems to help a lot. The worst thing to do is to go to sleep to try and make it go away, because when I wake up - it's going to still be there and the time wasted during unecessary sleeps makes me even more upset.

Pray, listen to music, and Yahoo!answers....but that is in the case if I were to become depressed...I have had something wonderfull happen so there is no reason to be depresesd for ever!
