Actually, if your car was an innocent bystander and got damaged by a police chase, it is the city that should be billed. The city is responsible for all damages caused by the police in pursuit of criminals.

Varies by state. Start with your insurance company. They will normally know who to go after for the money. What they do for a living. After that, if needed contact an attorney.

Have a friend who was broadsided by a dark blue policecar at 3:00 am. The car was running with no highlights, sirens, etc and went through a red light and hit him. He was no only unable to collect from the police, he was fined and ticket (4 points) for failure to yield to the officer.

So good luck...

The perpetrator should be responsible. Contact the police department, and file your claim with your insurance company, informing them of the circumstances.

The city pays for it. They have to pay for whatever damage they cause and this is a fact.
