Then don't think about him having sex. If he doesn't talk about it, what's the problem. There's plenty of straight people that the thought of them having sex is pretty darn nasty, too.

As a lesbian, hearing my straight friends talk about straight sex grosses me out a little too... but, like you, I'm not so shallow as to let something so small interfere with my friendships.

I see there are a number of other answerers here who feel differently. From the big deal they make about it, they sound obsessed with gay sex, which is sorta weird since they claim to be so grossed out by it.

Sexual orientation is just one characteristic of a human being, and doesn't come up in conversation on a regular basis... at least among mature adults.

Then perhaps you should get over the immaturity.
If the thought of gay sex grosses you out, learn not to think that way. If you accept him as a "friend" but limit him in being himself, you aren't a friend at all, just a "fair weather friend".

After knowing him for 40 years, you should be used to him by now. Start talking to him about it. You could be the first to bring up the "topic". The way things are going in today's society, he may need someone to talk with about these things. It may give you a better understanding of the "other side".

I think the answer is simple -- just try not to picture him in bed. I think most people are grossed out by the thought of their parents having sex, but that doesn't mean that we stop hanging out with our parents. We just don't think about them having sex.

I think it's very considerate of him not to share his sexual exploits with you in detail, but I hope that you also refrain from doing the same with him. Also, I hope that you both are able to talk about basic relationhip info (how a date went, etc.) and that you're tolerant of seeing each other hold hands with a significant other -- things that normal people do in public with the people they love.

I think sex of all kinds is natural, so I'm not grossed out by any kind of sex. But I'm pretty open minded!

You don't have to like gay sex to not be homophobic or accept homosexuality. Although I think it's better to be open minded about it.

Although you dont' really sound like a bad person.

Not the same experience at all because my best friend is very heterosexual. But one thing we have in common is the fact that I am actually tolerant to the idea of homosexuals being part of our society but their very existence makes my skin crawl and I just can't help myself.

God loves all of us.As long as you have fun hanging with him, what he does on is own time shouldn't matter. You know god would be ashamed of all of you who think homosexuality is gross. You know you'd feel differently if your friend was the opposite gender and talking about what they do.Also anyone who says your gay friend wants to have sex with you is ignorant. It's not like gays, lesbians and biseuxals hit on everyone.

You have a friend whose company you enjoy. Why should it matter to you what he does behind closed doors?

Perhaps when he thinks about what you do in bed, it grosses him out. But maybe he's not that bigoted and ignorant, and values your friendship more than being judgmental.

what is the problem here? you're best friends, it grosses you out and he doesn't talk about. you hang out, and you have a great time. so, are you thinking about it all the time or something? if so, why? sounds a little like repressed homophobia.

You are over forty years old and you still say it "grosses" you out? Time to grow up a bit. You owe it to your 'best' friend.
