There could easily be a black president if a black person with common sense ran for the office. Jesse Jackson is a shakedown artist and a race-baiter. Same goes for Al Sharpton. But give me Condi or Powell or Thomas Sowell, and I would vote for them today!

Jesse Jackson did not run because neither he or Al Shaprton could get enough support to secure a slot on the ballots. The United States is not ready for a black president. Our country has too many unresolved issues with race. So many things have not been addressed as far back as the days of slavery. America is not ready.

I would vote for a black president if there was a good one running. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are both idiots. And besides that. When they did run they didn't stay in the race long enough to get votes. They always drop out. I'll vote for someone if they deserve the vote. I'm not going to vote for someone just because they're black.

Tell you what: If Colin Powell or Condolezza Rice are on the ballot any time in the future, I will vote for either of them. No way on God's green earth I'd vote for Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton. They perpetuate racial division and tell their African-American followers it's OK to hate white people and blame them for every single injustice brought upon African Americans. They are NOT interested in racial equality; all they want to do is incite people with dark brown skin against people with pale cream-colored skin. Yes, we should have an African-American on the 2008 Presidential ballot, but we need one who is going to work to unite our respective races, not one who will start the second Civil War.

Oh, be for real!! Jesse Jackson!!?? How old are you? The reason there are no black presidents is the almost the same as why there are no female presidents. Noone good enough has run - and those who have run were not goog enough. Granted we've had worse (I mean, really - we got TWO (2) Bush presidents!!), but for their time - they were what the Americans deemed to be the best candidate. When you are old enough - you can cast your vote - or maybe even run for president yourself.

Nobody has elected one yet.
Why are Jesse Jerkson and Al Sharpton your only candidates?
Why not the crack smoking Mayor of Washington DC...
Marion Berry...
Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?
Your standards are pretty low.

America has a long history and tradition of white, male presidents. and its not racism or bigotry..its just that America was not ready..

The newer generations maybe getting ready to do a nice balancing act... and in a swift move may be able to level the playing field a bit...

Condolezza Rice and her supporters may be doing some praying...

And God...maybe it's listening...

You got to be kidding about Jesse "extortion" Jackson and Al "Joker" Sharpton. They wouldn't makea pimple on a president's butt.

Or, for that matter, why not a woman president? Sooner or later, I'm sure we'll have both (maybe at the same time.)
But let's not assume that ANY politician, of whatever race, color, ethnic background or gender, is automatically, because of only that, going to be any better than the schmoos we've had in recent years.

Black would be fine. Sharpton or Jackson would be far from fine. Remember it's not the color that matters unless you are a racist.
