Producers use Casting Directors/agents to source extras/character models for their productions and in turn many top agents use a service called envenio to scout for new talent. Aspiring extras/models showcase themselves on the envenio website which is accessible only to professional agents who use it to search for people who have the “look” they require.
People of all shapes and sizes, ages and looks are required – this work isn’t just for “pretty” people! Joining New envenio couldn’t be easier; you simply send them some snapshots of yourself and your £45 membership fee which covers you for a full year.
Charlotte Drew, a 52 year-old size 26 mother, recently took her 20 year-old daughter Emily-Joy to sign-up with envenio and on the spur of the moment decided to put herself up for TV and modelling work. Within a couple of weeks Charlotte was signed-up by an agent and has appeared in an advertisement for Tetley Quickbrew tea and a pop video with the boy-band “Busted”, and Emily-Joy was found by an agent who got her a part as an Extra in the latest Kirsten Dunst movie.
