i've cleaned it with antiviurs, and antispyware software. we've totally removed and cleaned the windows program, reinstalled and it's still not back to par. i don't know what else to do. it's to the point that the pc will barely stay up long enough to log in. i'm pretty literate with pc's so any help would be appreciated.

Buy a new PC? :p

If there's no virus on it, you've done a disk cleanup and defrag and even reformatted and it's still buggered then your PC is near to death. :p

you probably have a hardware error

Try reformating, then if that doesn't work run a diagnostic

download the iso then put it on a cd make use you use an iso tool instead of just draging and dropping. Then restart with the cd in the drive pressing F12, select the cd and they are pretty self explaning.
then fix the hardware

It could be a bad RAM stick, or a bad hard drive, or a failing power supply or it could be that you are overheating.

Use chkdsk to check the hard drive, use MemTest86 to test the RAM and use SpeedFan to test the voltages and temperatures.

Your systems registry is messed up , but it can be fixed . I recommend you use a good registry repair and optimization software. Example
