Because Isreal is a real nation of peace in the A$$hole of the world. They are surrounded by evil radicals. We would do the same for somone like Britain or Austrailia if it was them over there and hope they would do they same for us.

Here are some possible reasons. If you are looking for an anti-Israel answer, I am sorry.
1. Cultural similarity: Many studies have found that states tend to get along with other states that are culturally similar (at least comparatively so). This could apply to political culture or broader forms of culture.
2. Shared national interests: Israel and the U.S. share many of the same priorities in the region. For example, both countries prefer to promote secular governments over religious governments (though religion plays a large role in both). The U.S. and Israel also have many common enemies. These states and non-state actors would be enemies even if the U.S. had nothing to do with Israel. Political realists argue that "the enemy of my enemy is my friend."
3. The Jewish diaspora in the United States is politically powerful. In general, the diaspora promotes good U.S. treatment of Israel. While the influence of the group is probably overstated, it still plays a role in U.S. foreign policy.
Like I said, this is not an anti Israel answer. It is simply my best attempt at answering your question. Take care.

The question pops up from time to time. Here's why America supports Israel.
Christians have a Biblical connection with Israel
America and Israel have shared strategic interests:
1) Israel has missiles capable of reaching as far as the former Soviet Union
2) Israel has cooperated with the U.S. with R&D for new jet fighters and anti-missile defense systems
3) Israel's intelligence service has assisted the U.S. in intelligence gathering and covert operations.
4) Israel's frequent wars have provided battlefield testing for American arms, often against Soviet weapons.
5) Israel has kept Syria, for many years an ally of the Soviet Union, in check.
Compelling moral imperatives to support Israel are:
1) Israel is the only true democracy in the region. Arabs are represented in Israel's Parliament.
2) Fair play: Jews are not terrorists (according to American standards) while ALL terrorists are Muslims
3) Jews have never declared war on American values while some Muslims have
4) What is the alternative to Israel, terrorist organizations like Hezbollah/Hamas?
5) Palestinians and other Muslims supported Saddam Hussein and celebrate terrorist triumphs over the west.

Despite most people think, the US is a nation founded on Christian principals. The Bible specifically says, "I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." (Genesis 12:3). No one can deny how blessed the US has been in comparison to other nations. Furthermore, during the Revolutionary War, the Continental Army was bankrupt and on the verge of surrender. Gen. Washington approached a Jewish businessman for financial assistance. This Jewish businessman talked to several of his Jewish colleagues and together they donated $1 million to the cause. This enabled the US to win the war. As a tribute, the 13 stars (for the 13 original colonies) that the eagle is holding on the back of a dollar bill are in the shape of the Star of David. So you can see that the US has had ties with the Jewish people ever since there was a US!

It is because of our greed for oil. Oh, ahem, wait, that can't be it, because we should hate Israel if so. Hmmm.
We have unique relationships with many countries. For example, our relationship with South Korea is not quite like any other. With Japan, same story. With England, too. And so on. That it is unique with Israel is not all that unique. If, for example, Australia were suddenly thrust into a situation in which it somehow had bordering neighbors that were totalitarian and trying constantly to destroy it, our relationship with Australia might become more like that with Israel.
As for the hatred of billions, I don't mind earning the hatred of people who have their heart set on pushing Jews into the sea.

Both countries share the same GREED. AIPAC helps things along by sponsoring politicians who will be pro-Israel. If a politician gets a conscience along the way, they are threatened and harassed until they give in or are defeated by another pro-Israeli politician.
