I live a little southwest of New Orleans. The c-wall is right across from my house.I stayed here for katrina. We had some trees down and power outage. But thats about it.I watched the news and could see the tract was going to hit New Orleans.
People in New Orleans watched the track, just like I did.
They DECIDED to stay and ride it out, just like I did.
It's not the case they couldn't get out.The case is they WOULDN'T get out.
They made their choise to stay.
The choise to rebuild is theirs. But rebuild at their OWN EXPENSE,not the tax payers.

BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T GOTTEN THE KIND OF HELP THEY NEED. Because it's still a ramshackled mess wherever the hurricane hit. Because people like you sit on your duff and criticize everyone else instead of getting up and actually doing something to help. You think they have money to move to a better place? You think they don't know what could happen in the future? Do you REALLY think that the government didn't know years ahead of time that the levies would break in a big storm? Is this the New Orleans peoples' fault?? I have friends from New Orleans and I have NO patience with people like you who think that they should just "get over it." This was their LIFE. Do me a favor and turn on your common sense--and your heart--and rethink what you've just said. It was very insensitive.

Then why help California? if you think that were you live is a choice (when you're poor, it's not) That whole state should be evacuated or deserted since they KNOW it's an earthquake zone...or Florida, since they KNOW it's a hurricane zone.
The people of New Orleans are still crying cause the money the Senate authorized for rebuilding and aid still hasn't reached them (it has been a year).
New Orleans is one of the very, VERY few historical treasures of the US, with it's own way of life that's different from everything else. Your little taste of a true melange. Treasure it!!!

I have no idea why they would even want to rebuild there! its insane!... they knew for years that eventually it would happen... they are below sea level! its just common sense! I feel bad for what they went through and all their losses ... but to rebuild there is foolish....at some point it will most likely happen again.... there are some areas ... people just should not build homes and live in... same thing in CA with people rebuilding after the mud slides.... for it to happen all over again! or people in Fl with these trailer homes.... these people really need to use some common sense....

They are still crying because their entire lives were destroyed. How can you be so insensitive. Lets not pretend that something could not potentially happen to all of our homes. The west coast has fires and mud slides and earth quakes. the mid west has tornadoes, the east coast has blizzards and hurricanes. What magical bubble do you live it that will never be affected by hazardous weather conditions.?

If you lost everything, including family members, you wouldn't be able to shake it, either. It's just be a year, these people lost everything.
By the way, California (some parts) are flood zones, they continue to build there, as well. Near the mountains, on the mountains, anywhere theres space.

A lot of people were born there and have no way of moving. They have entire families there too. Plus, some of the poorest people in the U.S. live i that area too. THEY COULDN'T EVEN AFFORD TO EVACUATE!!!! How cold can you be? Where do you live? I'll bet bad things can happen where you are too and ya know.....when it does, I'll bet you'll be dancing to another tune. Doesn't have to be just weather either. You must be a horrible, cruel, mean person.

Wake -up. Have you seen the remaining devastation in the southern part of this country? There but for an act of Mother Nature could be you. I'm ashamed you use that flag and have no sympathy. Leads one to wonder if you aren't a racist. You are one of the reasons those of us whom like that flag are ashamed to show it.

Yea well if someone close to you died in a car crash, would you ever get over it? Even though you know the dangers of driving and how many people get killed each year. Wouldn't you want insurance to fix ur car, afterall you paid for insurance, just like they pay for taxes.
