Saw this in Yahoo (http://news.yahoo.com/fc/science/astronomy_and_space ) what's your opinion?

This is a hot topic today - I think it is a good thing that we can be flexible enough to change our classification system as we expand our knowledge. People get too sentimental about things that they shouldn't - the status of a planet shouldn't be one of them. Besides, you can tell your grandkids that you were alive when they demoted Pluto!!!

For centuries it was 9 planet, suddenly we get to know we have 12 and more recently it is 8. One fine day some defination will change and we will come across only 2 planet EARTH and MARS. Mars will be a picnic spot for the super rich

we use have 9 now we have 8 Pluto is not a planet anymore

It's like your parents telling you that they adopted you.
Surprise and well why?

You are still there. Life goes on.
How could they have been wrong all these years?
One meeting and it's a consensus.
I say let's buy it. Real estate developers will be all over it and they will have to respect it as a planet again.

Yes or else they would have to consider innumerable Kuiper belt objects as planets and our solar system would turn into a mess!

um yeah, pluto is actually more part of the kuiper belt. There are even some bodies bigger than Pluto in the Kuiper belt.
