I have an option to move to Chicago or Dallas. I have stayed in Naperville (near Chicago) for short time and liked it, but never been to Dallas. Which place is better? My priorities: cost of living, school, climate, security.

Chicago is better only if you like the cold. Also there is something like 8:1 female to male ratio - if you are a guy then odds are in your favor.

I lived in Dallas for a while so I am really more biased to suggest Dallas. It has great schools, cost of living, climate - security always depends on neighborhood, but it's relatively safe.

Dallas------
cost of living is not expensive
schools are great, from grade school thru college
climate is wonderful 9 months out of the year--1/2 of June,,July,,Aug and 1/2 of Sept..are just plain hot and nothing else
security depends on what part of town or what suburb you live in,,,so that's your option

Definitely Dallas. Okay so I'm biased because I'm fromt there, but still. It's much better. Expecially more towards Fort Worth, like in the Mid-Cities area (that's the bit between Dallas and Fort Worth.

depends on what you want in life...

dallas hasn't been below 100 degrees for the last month and a half... but living is cheaper... dallas is red as can be (politically) while chi-town is a nicer mix... dallas has a ton of tex-mex... in dallas thats what you do, drive, work, shop, eat, drink....

north dallas suburbs are safe as can be and their schools are fabulous... but its all flat and hot...

hope i helped a bit...

Texas doesn't have a state income tax. I would pick Dallas.
