!Congratulations on your baby! I had my first at 21 and it is not easy to be a young mum.
There is actually an early "potty training" method that may help your problem of your baby taking her diaper off and help your not wanting to have to "potty train" her (the way you are thinking of it, at least). It is called many things including Elimination Communication (EC), Infant Potty Training (IPT), and Natural Infant Hygiene (NIH). I have 5 kids (actually 1 is almost 17- I guess I could be a grandmother!) and I used this method with my youngest 2 from birth with great results.
There is an organization called DiaperFreeBaby that has support groups in different areas- maybe there is one near you. The website is www.diaperfreebaby.org.
There is also a great Yahoo! Group for IPT "Late Starts". Here is the address:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/IPTLateStarters/?yguid=227105793
It may sound like a lot to start this process now but in many ways it is easier than full time diapering and potty training a toddler. Plus little undies are much cuter and more fashionable than diapers!
Good luck

LMAO!!! I used to do the same thing. I don't know how my mom got through it. I was lucky that my son didn't do that. But I plan on having another kid next year and I'll see if that one does it. But, seriously, duct taping the diaper, not to her skin, but to the diaper will prevent it from being pulled off. Or you can leave it off and when she looks like she's about to go, take her to the bathroom and let her go in the toilet. My son's first babysitters daughter was trained by 1 year old. Think about it as saving money on all those diapers!!!
Good luck with your baby!!!

Oh, and you were old enough to have a baby, you are old enough to potty train her yourself. Don't leave that up to your mom. Her job of potty training her kids has been over with for a while now.

You know maybe you should let her get some air for real. maybe her diaper is uncomfortable to her. maybe a new brand. what kind of diaper do you use for her.
Maybe you should potty train. But it is not you mother job to do so. that is you baby not your sister. I know your baby and she doesn't give you any trouble at all (besides the diaper thing) it should be that hard to potty train her. I still can't believe you had a baby before I did and I your BIG sister!!

Sounds like you have an early potty trainer on your hands..:) What I have learned is that no matter how much we tell them not to take it off, they will keep trying anyways.. So what I do is keep anything like shorts or those cute ruffled panties over top of the diaper.. if its covered she will completely forget that it's there...and then she'll get interested in something else... I have a 9 month old, I know completely what your going through...Good luck hun..

Maybe she's ready to start some early potty training? Yea, I know, it's said that's too early, but I was potty trained at 9 months old! When she takes it off, put her on the pot! Or...get some duct-tape.

Put shorts or pants over the diaper so she won't be able to take the diaper off.

It is totally normal. All 5 of my kids did it. I just keep shorts or a diaper cover on them. It seemed to work . Good luck.

lol I feel your pain on that one, one of my best friends had the same problem ... she tried everything from tapping her hands away from the diaper to trying to put pins on them so that she wouldn't just be able to peel them back. No idea what happened, but one day she bought a different brand of diaper and the little one left it alone lol ... I guess even at that age we try to get out of irritating things that bother us :) good luck in your search :)

Put a onesie over it. Your baby will still be comfortable but if she can't get through the snaps the diaper will stay on.

Just don't leave her with only diapers on. There are a lot of undergarments for babies with snap on buttons on the bottom. These buttons are quite hard to open even for my husband :-P
