No, actually it was left largely unresolved.

I love the ending of the book where Deckard flies out into the wasteland and finds, hopping through the ashes, a frog. At first he thinks, ahhh life will find a way... then he picks up the frog and sees the compartment for the batteries.

The book is much more interesting than the movie, IMO.

You should read The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, if you haven't already. That's an amazing Dick novel.

There is a LOT of debate about this point. The film leaves a lingering question of whether or not Deckard is an android. In the novel, Deckard is definitively not an android; he passes the Voigt-Kampff test. (Although this is a questionable idea, as we never read about the actual test administration.)

I myself would like to say no because I like the “tragedy” like idea on one falling in love with an android. There was even talk of a sequel (movie) with Dekard as an android.

I love to see references to this book/.movie still pop up on the net as I personally feel the movie is the best Sci-Fi/android movies of all time! Thank you Phillip K. Dick!
