Look, sister, I'm sooo with you on this one.

What the hell are these morons talking about "it's boring" ??

WTF? I heard once every mission to space actually MAKES money- when there's interest worldwide, there's soo much revenue to earn it's really silly. I want to research that a little more but I think the factor of cost is not really important. Worldwide interest in space travel shouldn't be a monetary concern it should just be done! Explore! It's what we as humans do.

The moon - we've never been there I don't even believe we have nearly a ton of moon rock locked in some lab somewhere from the apollo missions.

WHERE? why the secrets on the moon rock? haha, just rediculous. NASA astronauts are NUTS. I'm never convinced by ANYTHING they say in interviews... they contradict each other and Buzz Aldrin punched a dude because he didn't belive buzz walked on the moon!!! LOL - uhmmm, had I walked on the moon and a media rep pulled that on ME... LOL... i would simply have given him a moon rock. Or told him a story...

BUT no. Our astronauts are crazy sheep men who don't think for themselves and have done the world a satanic dis-service.

And the studio wasn't in LA people, it was on a desert in Arizona is my guess. Or New Mexico.

Bless.

Nasa did get to the moon but there are two main reasons why man hasnt been back.. Firstly, it was a straight race between the americans and the russians to see who could get there first, secondly theres no reason to go back, the cost wouldnt justify it.. we've been, had a mooch around, picked up some samples, planted a couple of flags and played golf... why go back??
interesting fact, the first words ever uttered by a man setting foot on the moon were "contact light", spoken by buzz aldrin.. neil armstrong didnt say his "one small step for man" piece until 18 seconds later.. there you go!

Did you think it was easy to get there...? It costs bazillions of dollars, and takes the combined efforts of hundreds of thousands of people just to get off the ground! Ask the people who won the Ansari X-prize! A piddly ten million! They knew that they would spend far more than that just to get their ships working. Now imagine all the research that had to lead up to that, before NASA did it for the first time. All the expense.

If it could be done cheaply, a lot of people would have gone there! I'm worried about China going there, if we don't have a permanent presence on the Moon, soon. They may decide to drop rocks on our head until we agree to be Communists, or something like that. And we couldn't stop them without being up there. It's time we went back.

Mainly because of government restrictions. They refuse to allow private exploitation of space travel. If these restrictions were removed, you would see private mining and entertainment ventures spring up over night. The possibility's of a functioning moon base/city are endless. To those who answered " been there/ there's nothing there", you are idiots. Imagine an old folks home or disability center, a resort, not to mention the pure scientific knowledge that would be available.
For some ideas of the possibility's, I would suggest reading Robert A. Heinlein's " The Moon is a Harsh Mistress"; not only is it a good read, it gives you an idea of what could be accomplished.

They have. Bill Clinton was there around eight years ago. He wanted to get out and walk around but was told that wasn't part of the deal. He must have picked up some space bug. Just because you're the president for a few years doesn't give you carte blanche. What do you think NASA does with those acquired downed and confiscated space ships? Take them apart and scratch their heads?

Do you have a spare, oh, $100 billion? No? That's probably got a lot to do with it. There WERE additional missions scheduled and vehicles built but they were scrapped, largely due to budget concerns at about the time Nixon was being shown the door.

Plus there's really a certain been there, done that factor. We got a certain amount of critical information (that is still being analyzed, by the way) and decided there were other things in the universe more worthy of the money.

The expense doesn't justify the results. Our push to get to the moon was to prove to the world and Russia that we were the superior force. Now Russisa is no more, the cold war doesn't exist and the moon has nothing to justify the huge price tag associated with going there.

You know, of course, that there were several moon landings, one that included a vehicle, right?

In fact, it used to be a trivia question - "There's a $2million car available to anyone, just walk up and drive it off. What's the catch?" with the catch being, it's on the moon.

It's expensive to go back there. Unless there were something particularly useful that we thought we could learn from another visit, I don't see us going back there any time soon.

Becuse the moon people were extremely rude and there really isn't that much to do after dark. The whole planet shuts down at 5:00pm.

i think 11 people total walked on the moon.
why no one recently?

no gold
no oil
no water
no air
no anything.
no cheese
just dust and rocks.
should we put up a trailer park?
great view though, pretty blue planet to look at.
kinda boring after about half an hour.

what say we move on to mars or something hey?
