The FDA just announced that it can be sold without a precription to women 18 and older and 17 or yunger needs a precription fron her doctor. What are your thought on this i'd love to hear from pro-life and pro-choice
On the subject I agree with others who posted to ny question in a different section, I think it will lower the rate of abortions but that is my only thought on it
What is yours?

I think its great. I am pro life so anything to reduce the number of abortions is ok by me! I dont think it should be used as form of birth control but it beats the crap out of abortion the lesser of two evils I guess.

I think some people are a little confused about the morning after pill. Plan B is not a form of abortion. If taken correctly (within the 72 hours after the encounter), it actually PREVENTS the sperm from fertilizing the egg. It does not kill a baby or anything like that. Most pregnancies occur 72 hours after sex. The sperm is alive in a girl for about that long.
I think it is a wonderful idea to make Plan B available over the counter for adults. I have taken it once and never had any problems with it!! It's not a substitute for regular birth control though. You need to use condoms and other contraceptive methods to avoid abortions and use of Plan B.
Also, I forgot to add that if you already pregnant when you use Plan B, it won't harm the baby. It's only to prevent pregnancy. It won't do anything if you are already pregnant.

I think it is great! Having that pill so accessible to young girls gives some of them the impression that it is okay to have unprotected sex, because they can just go pick up that little miracle pill to make it all go away. This will force them to have to talk to a parent or doctor... I honestly don't even think it should be over the counter for women 18 and up... by making it so easy to get, these girls/woman are not having to deal with the irresponsible decisions that they make. I do not consider myself pro-choice or pro-life... If you don't want a baby, it is as simple as taking birth control or using condoms to prevent it most of the time. Leave the baby making to those of us that truely want to be parents... and would never even need to take a little pill to make it all go away.

i think that you should just use prevention methods correctly and not need plan b. i am pro-life. women are lazy about birth control. just use it or don't have sex, why is it so damn difficult? and if you are having sex, you need to be mature enough to face the consequences. i have a 5 month old, that was an accident. i didn't go have an abortion or blame someone. i had a healthy baby boy that i love very much! i don't think it will lower the rate of abortions. i also saw a report about women that died after using plan b! its dangerous! GET ON THE PILL< RING< PATCH< SHOT! WRAP IT UP BEFORE HE PUTS IT IN! why is it so hard!?!?!

I think that you should be able to get it with out a prescription from 16 and up. Many teens start to have sex about this age and you are held accountable in court at this age and you have more responsibility at this age. Then we don't have as many abortions or children that end up in the system because teens don't know how to use protection and because they weren't ready for the child that they received.

I'm pro choice and I like the idea. Women have the right to choose what they want to do with their body and i think this will lower the rate of abortions and unwanted pregnancies!

I think its dumb. I am Pro-life. I admit I have had an abortion only because it was the only way my child was not developing and was not expelling itself. I regret it. They are giving this opportunity to everyone and anyone. ya it will bring down abortion rate and the population will not go up so fast. But still its ridiculous if people can take responsibility to have unprotected sex they should have to suffer the consequences. Fate takes its own course and if some girl is meant to have a child then she is meant to. It would be crazy if it screwed everything up (this may sound stupid but) like in final destination lol, everything changes because of this child not being born. crazy if you really think about it!!!!!

Those under age can still get their friends to buy it for them so that means there is going to be a law like buying alcohol for someone underage...that is illegal. It is great that 18 and over can get it but those who cannot will find a way to get it without a doctor prescription. They just need to make it to where you need to see a doctor so that way no one is doing anything they are not suppose to like buying meds for someone underage. Also those need money to get Plan B. If a teen does not have the money then they are still SOL.

We can buy it over the counter here, and have been able to for quite some time. The rate of teenage mums is actually increasing and I'm not sure about the abortion rate
