I need to get a dna test done on my biological father. I'm 23 and live in california he lives in Washington. I need to prove he is my father (he left when i was about 2 years old) never paid child support. (I don't have much money to pay for a lawyer) My birth certificate say father withheld. Also if you know of any lawyers who'll do this for free or real cheap.

I dont know how it works where you live...I live in Australia, but if I want legal advice...I can ring a legal firm and talk to a lawyer and it costs nothing. Sometimes if you read the adds in your local telephone directory it will say something like.."First Consultation Free". You do need legal advice and if you havent got much money then that is the best thing I can suggest. We have Legal Aid over here where lawyers represent low income earners and the Government pay for it. Maybe there is a scheme like that where you live. Its worth a couple of phonecalls to find out. I knew my father, but I can empathise with you about wanting your father to know who you are....It will give you a sense of belonging. I wish you luck.

Why do you NEED to prove he is your father? Your an adult now, so there are no child support issues. Why not just ask your Mom who your father is? Also, please keep in mind that you cannot force this man to take a DNA test.
