How long does it take for a drug crime to drop of a driver's license? Is it from date of arrest or conviction?

This question is from Michigan. I am not quite sure if the state matters.

Conviction. Sorry. You can move to another state. We do not tie drug crimes to the driver's license.

By the way, felony drug convictions ban you from food stamps for life.

I don't believe there is a statute of limitation on this charge. I believe I'd go to another state and get a new license, but don't turn the old one in to them, because it will pull up on their system.
