Women are far more relational than men. They need connection with other women in order to express all the complex things women feel and experience. This is crucial to a woman's mental health. To be deprived of female friendships and meaningful connections with other women is one of the leading causes of depression in women. Never begrudge a woman of her friends.

Well, women like to talk a lot in general. The phone is only another means. Personally, I rather talk in person.

Why do you make generalizations that do not very accurately reflect a population? I am female, yet I talk on the phone very little--an average-length phone call for me is under 2 minutes. I just don't like talking on the phone. Yet I know plenty of men who have their phones glued to their ears 24/7.

Why?
One of the mysteries of the universe.
Like why do women have a tendency when going out to eat with other women insist on an exact accounting of the check for each one versus just splitting it like guys would do.

All women don't, but I imagine many of those who do may need to talk to other women or even male-friends because, as it is said, "what someone doesn't get at home they'll go find elsewhere".
I'm not necessarily talking about having conversations for the sake of conversation. Sometimes women may need intelligent discussion, they may like talking with someone who sees them as as equal or someone who isn't bellyaching or stressing out about something, or someone with whom they can have some laughs.

actually i don't talk on the phone that much. my brothers talk on the phone more than i do. i know more guys than females that talk on the phone more.
all of my gal friends don't like talking on the phone.....
