What you mean, deserves? If he never reached his potential is his own fault. I remember him and el piojo Lopez and a few of their teammates, playing for Argentina younger team. So much talent! Not even one came close to their promises.

Crespo's international career was definitely overshadowed by Batistuta.
But I feel Crespo has already earned and recieved the international recognition he deserves as of now. If he wants to become any greater, he will need to lead Argentina to World Cup glory.

Batigoals consistently proved it in all games, Crespo though a great player struggled at Chelsea through lack of opportunity. Crespo needs a couple of seasons in Italy scoring at least 20 goals a season and then consistently for Argentina for the next World Cup maybe he would equal the greatness of Batigoal.

Crespo was always overshadowed by Batistuta. Bastistuta was the ultimate striker, Crespo wasn't. His goals were GOLAZOS, but now Bastistuta is gone, Crespo deserves great respect because I believe he is Argentina's greatest striker to-date.

I think Batigol was truly a genious. Crespo has long ways to go to before he can attain the status of Batistuta - the goal scoring machine.
