It depends on what kind of dancer you want to be. I suggest you take different dance classes Lyrical, hip hop, jazz, tap, etc. They will all come in handy, I promise you.

Willingness to take off you clothes...

Seriously... Look in the UK (if in the UK) performance artis (ie singer, actor, theatre technician, dancer etc )trade press.

Look at the job section...

Most jobs for dancers are for the kind that strip off around a pole...

Not saying thats wrong (lots of money and still dancing... and hey girl mates of mine were always flashing boobs in some wet t shirt competition) and were still mates.

but saying how it is...

Likewise typing over 60wpm, or other trade skill to cover all that time looking for those top dancer jobs to pay your bills whilst you wait for auditions... Oh and the kind of job that will give you time off to do said audtions at short notice...

Most wont.

If In London it helps if you are with a well known dance studios such as Pineapple in covent garden...

A photographic memory...

Ie I show you 10 moves in succession... If you can't do them in a minutes or so or striaght away... You out of the audition .

Its that competitive.

Everyone else whnats the same job and if you can't keep up with the audition moves you out...

Coreographed dancing is VERY different then dancing youself to the music you like.

Practice that one with friends... get them to give you a sequence of moves and see how quick you can learn them...

You are going to need to be super fit...

Also remember if you hurt yourself especailly ankles you dont work and its soo easy to twist and ankle.

Most dancers I know in London Walk about an Abbey Road (think Beetles) Physio named Ed Burne.

So get exercising as said a dance studio should help...

Or martial arts.

No more cream puffs either.

You need a healthy diet... Not healthy means you still eat but eat healthy so mum would need to be involved there.

You need to practice all the time in the morning early, jog, as said be super fit.

Super memory...

If I were you Id study contract law...(so you dont get cheated)

Adn go to temping agencies to find out what skills they look for

And what pays...

Note mortages may be a problem.

As for dancing lesson one... clear the room of everything...

Blind fold yourself.

Get the music and you want something punchy and aggressive and spiked... (ie no house music think more hip hop, nu metal or spanish Or if you want to do ballet etc)

And learn without seeing the sense the music around you (bit like the force in star wars),... Good tip here is to rent out an old movie called Highlander... get to the bit just after the end when bald baddy Kurgen looses his head, sound up.

And sense and feel the energy in the sound and see music much like the quickening enrgy around conner (though not so scarey)

Music to you should be an energy field full of emotion you move with its shape and form like in a giant 3 d graphic equaliser...

You moovements are one with the music and the creator of the music and how they feel do that a lot then you should learn to do the same with eyes open ...

(whats great to do is get to a rock club, get in the middle of a mosh pit, all fired up. then go for it)

And as said be prepared from the likely hood that many dancing jobs if not backing to a singer or group may involving stripping and pole dancing.

Home work...

Strictly Ballroom... Especailly the scene where the dude meets his girlfriends scarey dad.

Highlander end scene..

U got served or similar break dance movie...

.
