What's your favorite and why?
Also, what's up with this new jazz? I love him, but don't we think he should go back to the way he was?

As a blues man, I look for players as well as vocals, for a complete package. In my view, Rod was at his best in the late sixties, fronting for The Jeff Beck Group. The line-up was stellar, with both Jeff Beck and Ron Wood on guitars, and Nickie Hopkins on piano. The two albums resulting from this powerhouse combo were Truth and Beck-Ola.

No one does better than Rod when it comes time to lay it down with lots of soul. He admitted to me that his best vocal licks were borrowed from R&B greats like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding.
Even though he went on to greater exploits after Jeff and his group, Rod often talks about the incredible impact his early work had on rock n' roll.

Sadly, Jeff has developed tinnitus, and can't tolerate the heavy d.b.'s of rock anymore. It's sad to see such an enormous talent relegated to the bench.

If you are not familiar with Rod's early hard rockin' work in The Faces and Jeff Beck Group, I urge you to give it a listen, to develop a full sense of this incredible vocalist.

Every Picture Tells a Story. Because he meant every word he sang, and it rocked so hard.

Supposedly he's done with the American Songbook crap, and is doing an album of rockin' covers. We'll see if he's still got it. i can't think of any other rock and roller who's squandered his talent as much as Rod.

i think he's bad, its new because the old stuff was really bad, i don't think he should go back, because then he would be really bad again.
