Three options for differing timescales / budgets:
Go through your clothes and get rid of anything you haven't worn for a year, you'll find lots of things you'd forgotten about, will make space for new stuff (hooray!) and tidy up too so you'll find things more easily. Invite a friend for her opinions and guidance. Tidying up is really theraputic and you could celebrate when you've finished by having a girly night in (bubble bath, face mask, doing each other's hair, nails and make-up, watching a slushy movie, eating too much ice-cream).
Second option - learn something new. This might be as involved as enrolling on a course in something fun and unusual (I did aromatherapy last winter!) or something useful (I did web-design the year before). It could simply be getting a friend or family member to explain something to you that you know nothing about and that they are good at - do you have a sister that's a great cook? A friend who can speak a different language? You can have fun by asking them to teach you something that would take 2 - 3 hours to learn - even if it's only asking a four year-old how to colour inside the lines, lol!
Third option - go for a drive to somewhere you've never been or haven't been for a long time. If you only have a day you could set off early, have lunch there and then go home or, if you have all weekend, why not stay a night? I love doing day-trips along the coast and I once spent a day visiting somewhere across the country where I used to spend holidays as a child, it was so much fun. And driving can be really enjoyable too - take some good music and a map! Go alone if you need time out or a friend if you want to chat and catch up on all their gossip along the way. I'm sure you'd both have a great time.
Hope that helps!!!
Ooo, the volunteering idea is a great one, I've spent a day working in a real variety of places, it's great fun, you learn new things, meet new people and it's all good experience for that next job interview. Just go for something you wouldn't normally do!

Well, I mean a lot of things depend on what's available to you and where you live. If you have a car the options are almost endless, unless you are low on cash and don't have gas money! A couple of safe answers would be:
1) Go to the nearest pool/beach (if you are around one) and go lay out! Soak in some sun!
2) Call up some friends and have a little get together and watch movies
3) Hit up the gym! (Or go running)
4) Read a book
5) Do to a bookstore like Barnes and Nobles and just hang out. You'd be surprised how long you might stay there and just browse.
6) Go shopping!!!
7) Volunteer a couple hours at a place you would enjoy
8) Bake some cookies!
9) Get a pedicure...they usually give your feet and calfs a massage too!
10) Go hiking (if you are some place wgere you can...)
11) Start a family geneology research project...learn your heritage
Just a couple ideas to think about.

Telephone your best friend and arrange to go window shopping together, try on some new clothes, then sit and have coffee and just watch the world 'go by'.
