Use water!

Soak the entire car thoroughly first with plenty of water to soften and remove excess dirt. Then, use a good quality wash and wax in a bucket of tepid water and a sponge or soft brush to remove all dirt, starting at the top and working down, and doing the sills and wheels last. Rinse well with clean water, and dry with a chamois, either a genuine or synthetic. Don't do this in direct sunlight, or if the car bodywork is hot. Polish the paintwork with a good quality resin-based polish, put some black on the tyres, treat the plastics with a plastic-gel, polish the glass with glass cleaner inside-and-out, then stand back and admire the finish

Never use a car wash they don't work unless you intend to clean the dirt and not remove it. Use a pressure washer with a car washing attachment and then rince off the car with just the pressure washer.

Go to a car wash that specializes in biodegradable materials and uses water recycling. In this way you get your car washed without harming the environment or wasting precious resources like water.

soap and water?

Take it to the immigrant car washes, they do it by hand for a couple of quid or give it a full valet & have it showroom-clean for £15 or so.
