You probably won't. BTW, 80% of all MC accidents occur with a new owner/rider in their first 6 months of ownership.

What makes you think you can make him sell his bike? I have been riding for 40 safe years and if a person is carefull a bike is no worse that being in a car, He should take a MC course to learn to ride safe.
You can't hold his hand all the time, He should be watching out for you, Your the younger one after all.

You DO reallize that by asking a forum full of motorcyclists, most of the people here will see you as the enemy, right?
I'd just make sure he takes as many safety precautions as possible. Make sure he takes riding lessons (check out http://www.msf-usa.org if you are in the States), wears a helmet, or better yet wears full motorcycle gear - boots, riding jacket, riding pants, gloves, as well as a helmet.

Why are you terrified? Don't be so pessimistic. Hopefully he will learn (or has learned) how to operate one properly.
How would you like him trying to convince you to sell or not to do something he didn't want you to do? Let him live his life...encourage him to be safe and learn the skills needed...
Who knows...you may want to ride with him eventually...I didn't think I'd ever like motorcycles...but now I own one. :)

Probably nothing right now. The best you can do is make sure he wears a helmet. If he isn't safe on the bike, he will wreck, then you can start trying to get him to sell it. Unfortunately there is probably nothing you can do to stop him now.

Instead of selling it, why dont you encourage him to take a motorcycle riding class or safety class?

Baby, you won't be able to convince him of that. Just tell him how much you love him and are worried about him. Tell him to please wear a helmet and to be extremely careful because you don't know what you would do without him. Boys will be boys...
