I'm 20. Obviously music taste has a lot to do with opinion, however do you realize that in accordance with the definition of music, most of today's stuff.... (the top 10 especially) is complete garbage. The worst of the music is mostly rap, hip hop, and this pop punk...(new found glory sound...you know the car alarm high pitched voices that all sound the same???)
Why can't guys sing like they used to? In some cases, what happened to singing? What happened to harmony? What happened to melody? What happened to actual chords?
It's almost as if music has died....at least at the mainstream level....and it's so sad.....DON"T YOU THINK IT'S TIME FOR A MUSIC REVOLUTION?!?!?!?!? I want to be able to turn on the radio or even MTV2, and be able to stick with it for more than five minutes. I want to be proud of the music of my generation! Your thoughts?

im 19 and completely agree w/ you too! thank YOU for stating this! its sooo true that our generation has no idea what real talent is! i cant believe these young men who sing like their little sisters actually make it big, its a total disgrace. and mtv doesnt even have music its all "reality" shows. i hate all that crap,from rap to pop punk it all sounds the same. we DO need some1 to pave the way and turn things back to the way it USED to be!.....so n e 1 in to start a band???

Almost anyone can get away with making an album and it selling because people's preferences have been so diluted. They just uy into the media and the looks and appearance of the "artists." You are only looking at the popular music of today. The problem with today's music is that everybody seems to like the crap, so it becomes the popular music. But if you dig around hard enough, you will find some really good music.

I can't agree with you more. Music of all genre's have gone to crap. There are a few gems out there, but not many. Lyrically, songs are stupid. What I find upsetting is that the people who deserve to do well in music don't because they are competing with the likes of Paris Hilton.
I have to admit (shamefully) "the star are blind" has a catchy tune.

Rap sucks. Thats all everyone listens to now. I like stuff like Boston, The Eagles, Tom Petty, Van Halen, Styx, john Mellencamp, bruce springsteen. Classic rock rocks!

i think that todays music is trash. Rappers have become so desperate for songs that they sing about their teeth. Personally, i like country and some pop. All other is a disgrace.

I agree it is pure trash. We should start a foundation or something that gets rid of the trashy music because whether you believe it or not it's no wonder there are so many pregnant teens, rapes, stds, etc.

yes. i'm 18 now, but i always have known that music in general sucks. i listen to the good stuff. mostly stuff that was written before i was born.
