There's a program I used to have called 'Tune Up Utilitities 2006', I think you can recover lost files with it. It's not free but you can download a free 30 day trial
http://www.tune-up.com/
Hope this works for you

Free? No. But it is possible to recover most if not all of it.
Two potential ways are self-serve software and recovery service companies.
The software may or may not be good enough to do what you want, but just the loading of the software onto your computer might write over some of the information you are trying to recover.
The recovery companies charge a lot, I've heard. If you really, absolutely, positively must have the information back, it might be worth it to you, but since you asked about it being free, I'd say you probably can't afford it.
Just put your right hand over your heart, shed a single tear, and then with your left hand, wave a fond farewell to your files. And for next time, can you say CD backups?

Sorry to give you the bad news, but there is no program out there. Once you have erased something and it skips the recycle bin, it's gone. The only thing that you can do is to find the photos that you had put there initially and upload it to the computer and then save it as a file.

Whatever you do stop using your computer. If you deleted the files you want, you will start writting over the files with anything you do on the computer. If they are 100% important, take the hard drive to a specialist. If you add recovery programs at this point you will probably damage the deleted files. Basically once a file is deleted it's kilobytes are up for grabs by any other file that needs them. So don't creat any files or load any programs.

If you can find a local shop to do it, data recovery from the HD is expensive. Pictures are large files and cost even more to recover. How much? $800 - $5000.
There are cheap programs (a couple of hundred dollars) that will recover data. They are almost useless for recovering pictures, music and videos. Programs that will recover them cost around $1500 and more.

You might want to try Norton's Data recovery Utility. It comes with the Tool Suite they market. No guarantees, based on what it was that you did, but files when 'deleted' are actually still there, but marked as no longer valid, 'to be deleted'. The utility can identify these files and if still recoverable, get them back for you. It's only after you reorganize your folders or compress them that you actually have little chance to get back data. Be aware that with photo images, any part that is no recoverable, will mean the entire image is shot. Good luck no matter what you decide to do....

The thing is that what probably happend is the recycle bin couldnt hold that much gigs so you probably didnt notice or ingnored the little sign that popped up that says recycle bin cannot fit that material . and it would have asked you if you wanted to continue anyways, and if that is what happend you probably wont be able to get it back without a professional coming in and taking it out which woudl cost a recovery fee.Good Luck

Sorry I don't know of a free one.
But if you go to http://www.recovermyfiles.com/
The program will search for & show you what files it can recover before you decide to buy it.
REGARDING THE WARNING REPLY POSTED FURTHER DOWN ON HERE....I have just installed the program....(deleted northing since)..have searched all of C drive in thorough mode.
Took 2 hours 10 mins to find approx 7500 deleted files (deleted prior to its installation) which it can recover, with the potential of successful recovery marked as very good.
The search results can be filtered down (by use of a check box) to only show picture type files eg jpeg, bitmap etc.
The sooner you try to recover the files before the space is overwritten, the better will be the success rate.
Good luck :-)

Jeff the Drunk nailed it.
A Backup of data is the ONLY sure way to know that your files are secure. And there is no garuntee on that.
Its Digital Data, get that? Electronic Algorithms in a false state of suspension is not the place to store anything of any sense of value. Got an idea, share it, got a care, give it, need that data, triple redundancy.

System Restore is your best option like melodyzsong214 suggested. I use it when I delete programs or pictures by accident. It's cheaper than any of the other suggestions so far & way easier. You'll have to defrag your computer & do any updates all over again though. That's the one drawback I've found. BUT it's well worth it & cheaper than some Geeksquad employee, PC Club or other program.
