Well, you just posted this question, and I typed up a nice long answer, but I'll put it here again for all to see.

I know. I hate it. But they don't care. All they want is money. They don't care what people want, or what is a good example. As long as they get their money and their high ratings, they could care less. A motivational speaker at our school was talking about MTV. He was on 'Made' as a mentor or something, and he was talking to a vice president of the company who owned MTV and Nickelodean and all those channels like that.or some fat cat in charge like that. He suggested that they have some more wholesome programming. The guy in charge just said "I don't care. I own these kids" and then went on to talk about how he was glad that the ratings for that particular episode of the show were so high, higher than any other episode and how he could make the kids watching that stuff do anything he wanted. In short, they don't care what you think, they care about what you watch, and what comes out of your pocket.

agreed completely. if you've got the name 'music television', that seems like it should broaden its horizons to more types of music, doesn't it? about women being used as sex objects, it's 100% true--every rap video, and i mean EVERY one features at least one woman (and usually many) with all kinds of makeup, a tiny, fringy outfit; and long, dark or blonde hair shaking it up and usually 'hanging around' the male rappers (if the star is a female, she's usually doing the moves herself). it's so messed up how they do things like that... i just laugh because that's what today's teen to young-adult area is interested in. how could they be so oblivious to what MTV is feeding them and the messages they're getting, along with nasty lyrics in the majority of rap songs? gang beatings, shootings, drugs, and sex seem to be the topic of rap songs at least half of he time... and if it's not obvious, there are hidden meanings that they prove thrugh the videos.

if you're into alternative music, i'd look at MTV2, if you have it. they've taken all of the less-popular 00's alternative music off of MTV and onto MTV2, which works for me. if you prefer classic rock, there's VH1 Classic (it's on in the background, lol).

i'm not sure if you have those channels, though... e-mail me f you want all of the channels i know about (that are music channels, but they feature less rap and pop), e-mail me--kayleighisrad@yahoo.com. hope i helped! =P

oh! and FUSE is thhheee best for alternative/punk music... you have no idea how many shows they have every year just about the warped tour. it's pretty cool. :) the ntv prroducers would never fix to one person's liking, or even one thousand... they go mainly for the all-american mold, you know. who wear the same clothes and watch the same shows and listen to the same music? that's what MTV satisfies, not originals. :(

YES!!! TV in general sucks anymore!
I was around when MTV first came out, the whole attraction was no commercials! ALL music videos & the only interuption was the music news every hour. It appeared they brought on MTV2 to actually focus videos but its become nearly the same.

i think mtv is awsome i think you have a problem with sertin shows on the program not the channel it's self and p.s. sex sells not talent on it's own in the industry and boy rock bands are hot and it's called supply and demand they play only what you want you should watch mtv 2 or vh1 or fuse or music choice t.v. then i know a few produssers that work for mtv and if you have any commplaints you can just e-them and the'll try to fix things to your likeing

i love mtv, and i dont want to agree, but unfortunately i do with some things. i used to like mtv before, not that i dont now, but b4 it was better. here's my opinion on each of ur questions:
1.......no, most of the time, but not always, jack black isnt sexy,
but he's hosting the vmas.
2.......well, most of the time, but like trl and a couple others
shows no
3.......not really, they have music videos on trl, and after evry
show there's a short clip of a music videos
4.......good charlotte for example is not a pop or rap artist, but
their on mtv a lot of times, and green day too
5.......no way, i dont agree with that, a lot of guys love good
charlotte and green day and other rock bands.
6.......well, they know what they're supposed to say about music
and their job isnt supposed to know about music
7.......some ppl on mtv are gay, but i dont really care about that
8.......yeah, totally, on 80% of videos. i agree with u on that

so i hope that helps

I agree with you. Every time I tune in to see what's up with MTV, they're always just sitting around talking.I have yet to see a music video playing . I don't even bother tuning in anymore. I'll stick to Much Music, thank you very much.

This has been evolving since the early 90's, I stopped watching a long time ago.

"My Super Sweet 16" I mean come on who really wants to see a bunch of spoiled rich little snobs get everything they want. It really makes me want to throw my TV away.

I hadent thought about it too much previously but you are right, especially the part about it only supporting pop and rap artists.
