To my husband on his 31st birthday.
Today is the day to tell you what you mean to me.
We don't know what the future holds, but I'm sure the best is yet to be.
For better or worse, through thick & thin;
You're not only my husband but my soul mate and best friend.
I feel so much love each time you touch my hand,
and when I need someone to listen I know you'll understand.
So I just wanted to say thank you with these words from my heart,
just know that I've loved you right from the very start.

We've been together almost 8 yrs but married 1 1/2 years. I would get a Hallmark card but I thought it would mean more if I wrote it myself instead of using someone else's words.

Frankly - kind of canned, like it could be written on any birthday card. My personal opinion, if you want it, would be to forget the rhyme and write something more personal; what you love about him and what you wish for Him.
It is a nice rhyme, you did a very good job composing a poem. It just lacks personality. Again, just my opinion.

You man is not a chick. Cards and poems are for girls and a man is not really interested in this cutsie stuff.
Do you want to give him a good gift? Cook him a good steak, accompany it with cold beer and give him a jersey of his favorite football team.
Don't buy him socks or hankies please.
Don't get upset, I'm being honest and I'm sure that your man will be happier with a steak than with a poem. Seriously.
Good luck

Figures these comments would come from girls. Speaking as a man, if I was into poetry I would like it but your average man is not. Instead of a lame poem, how about you look him in the eye and tell him exactly how you feel, no script.

I feel t he love..... but maybe you should invest in a Hallmark card. How long have you been married??? And I hope you got him a real gift. No matter what you write I am sure he will take it with a smile, and say thanks you. God Bless
