i'm not trying to offend anyone and i don't think americans are stupid at all. but there are people who think that all the english people speak posh

I don't think that generalization is fair of any group. Its like saying most Europeans think all Americans speak the same. The way a New Yorker speaks and a South Carolinian speaks are different. I assume that is how it is across the sea.... so in short: no we don't, even though i have no idea what a brummie accent sounds like.

Look, American's are only exposed to one type of England and thats rich England. My friend from FerryHill thought all Americans were rich unless they were black, then they are all rapping gansters.
Travel more and watch less tv.
PS. why would an AMERICAN be able to differenciate between different accents without being familiar with the regions. Can you tell the difference btwn Northern and Southern Cali accents? I can. I know New York from New Jersey and Midwest from Canadian.
Brummie from Geordie-No WAY, would have to get use to it first.

I am American and I dont think that all English speak the same. But since I am not as farmilar with the areas I do not know where each accent comes from
