When it isn't in the national interest of the United States, to "defend" another country it shouldn't. Obviously this is a complex issue and depends on the exact facts and circumstances. But above all, I think the relevant inquiry should be "is this in our nation's interest?"

Because it isn't the true Israel? It is an artificial State created in 1948 or so with a multi-national invasion of arab land and the subsequent slaughter of the indigenous peoples. Why would anybody defend that?

Because prophecy has to be fullfilled. No one will defend Israel accept for true Christians and Almighty God himself.
